Nikko Deutzia....B&W version.

This image is the Black & White version of the one that I posted on my other site, and I think I prefer this one. This is one instance in which the colour "gets in the way" in my humble opinion. An enlargement will likely confirm it one way or the other. After checking with our neighbour, I was informed that it was a Nikko Deutzia plant. All right then, I'll settle for that...sounds more exotic than I had expected. Hope you enjoy it also.....

Interior Arch, McKenzie Hall, Olde Sandwich Towne

On a recent outing with the Windsor Camera Club, we visited McKenzie Hall, in Olde Sandwich Towne on the Western edge of Windsor, Ont.. It was an interesting visit, and while I do not know the history of this building yet, it had some very unique architectural features. From the looks of things, it appears that it used to be a prison at one point.  How the plaster craftsmen erected this tangle of what looks like twisted bed sheets, or cloth of some sort, defies the imagination. Someone really knew what they were doing and how to get it done! It made me wonder if there are any craftsmen left today who could do this kind of thing. Anyway, I had to take the shot, and when I got it home and loaded into the computer, I realized that it required a lot of work. This image is the result of my efforts to "clean" it up a bit, by removing various items of distraction, such as wall plaques, and a large flat screen TV right smack in the middle of the archway. Of course, the original was in colour, and I was all set to print it as such, but at the last minute decided to convert it to a Black & White image. It turned out better than I expected, and I actually prefer it to the colour one. It has a lot of graphic elements and the Poster Edges filter in Photoshop gave it some extra texture. Hope some of you enjoy it also.......
